Farm tractor and self-propelled combine unit sales finish the year with solid growth across the U.S., while sales in most sectors in Canada were also positive according to the latest data from the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).
Total U.S. February 2-wheel-drive tractor sales grew 17.3% compared to February 2018, led by under-40 horsepower machines with a 24.6% gain and a 7.1% gain for 40-100 horsepower 2-wheel-drive tractors.
Total U.S. sales of under 40 horsepower 2WD tractors increased 13.3%. Total Canadian sales of under 40 horsepower 2WD tractors declined 14.6%, according to the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers.
Overall U.S. sales of 2WD tractors for December year-to-date grew 6.8%; under 40 horsepower tractors gained 9.2%; 40-100 horsepower tractors increased 1.5%; and 100-plus horsepower tractors grew 5.5%.
Total November sales of 2WD tractors declined 0.9% compared to last year: a 2% gain for under-40 horsepower tractors, a 7.8% drop for 40-100 horsepower tractors, and a 4.4% gain for 100-plus horsepower tractors.
“We hope this builds momentum toward further reasonable agreements...However, the decision also risks extending rather than ending the ongoing uncertainty supplied by the tariffs..." says Dennis Slater, president of the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers.
On Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, Judge Daniel Hovland, U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota, granted the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers’ request for Preliminary Injunctive relief, which restricts the application of SB 2289 until the case can be fully litigated.
