Researchers from Colorado State University’s Tropical Meteorology Project forecast an above average total of 14 named storms, 7 hurricane and 3 major hurricanes for the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
John Hoffmann and the team from Atlantic & Southern Equipment have faced major storms and hurricanes before. Let’s listen in as he explains what they do to protect their facility and inventory, while still serving customers who need them as they also cope with the severe weather.
Hoffmann is based at the Goldsboro, N.C., location, near the Neuse River. Flood stage is 18 feet and the river had reached 27 feet with record height being 29.7 inches.
Hoffman shares how the team came together to pack up and move parts and inventory — by using pallets to raise up inventory or move to its second floor, bringing in semis to store equipment and moving equipment to nearby locations. The store stayed open until the last moment when they switched off the electricity and re-routed calls to another location.
