Stihl has announced the expansion and relocation of its Mid-Atlantic distribution and training facility that had been located in Hillsborough, N.C. for 25 years. The new facility in Mebane, N.C., about 10 miles away from their previous location and based in Orange County, represents a significant investment and will serve the 1,000 authorized Stihl Dealers across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and portions of Tennessee and West Virginia.
The facility’s 265,200 sq. ft. of operational space, with 15,000 sq. ft. allocated for office space and dealer training, significantly enhances operational efficiency, according to the company. In addition, this expansion more than doubles the previous warehouse capacity and adds more than three times the number of dock doors. The increased warehouse space facilitates improved order staging and longer racking, optimizing order picking and product replenishment. These enhancements contribute to more accurate and timely deliveries to retailers. Additionally, the larger facility includes expanded classrooms and training areas to support product portfolio growth, including wheeled goods.
“We are excited about Mid-Atlantic Stihl’s expansion and the positive impact it will have on our order fulfillment capabilities,” said Charles Bailey, branch director of Mid-Atlantic Stihl. “This new facility not only bolsters our support for the local economy, but also enhances our ability to serve Stihl Dealers more effectively, ensuring they can better meet their customers’ needs.”
Last fall, in the wake of Hurricane Helene, Mid-Atlantic Stihl donated $10,000 in chainsaws to Mitchell County in the western part of the state to help with waste removal and clearing roadways.
