Tarter Industries, a southern Kentucky farm equipment manufacturer, is hiring 75 employees as part of an expansion expected to be complete by August.

"Our existing product line has grown a little bit, but what we have gone out and done is added new products," said Josh Tarter, vice president for parent company Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment. "We're looking a bit more to the construction side along with the agriculture side."

The company, well known for its three-point tractor implement equipment, has expanded to produce items such as snow removal devices. Tarter produces its own brands of machinery but also manufactures equipment sold under other brand names, including Bobcat, Kioti, John Deere and Branson.

The company is adding 40,000 square feet to its 250,000-square-foot building, the former OshKosh B'Gosh factory, in Liberty. The $2 million expansion is roughly split between the cost of the additional space and new equipment.

The company did not apply for state tax incentives "due to the quickness of having to complete this project to keep up with customer demand," Tarter said.

The company has hired about 50 of the 75 employees. To apply for the remaining jobs, visit Tarter Industries at 750 North Wallace Wilkinson Boulevard in Liberty or the Tarter Ranch and Farm Equipment corporate office at 10739 South U.S. 127 in Dunn ville. The company's Web site does not accept online applications.

The company also has expanded operations in Corinne, Utah, that service customers in western states. Recently, the company completed an expansion of the facility, including adding buildings and $700,000 in equipment. The expansion led to 35 more jobs at the facility.
