Tractor sales in the under 40 horsepower category dropped 15.4% year-over-year in the U.S. for March and by 33.4% in Canada, according to the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers.
In the U.S., sales of under 40 horsepower 2-wheel-drive tractors were down 9.7%, and sales of 40-100 horsepower tractors were down 5.6%. In Canada, sales for the under 40 horsepower segment fell 20.2%, while the 40-100 horsepower segment fell 10.3%.

U.S. sales of tractors under 40 horsepower were down 2.6% in June compared with June of 2018 and sales of tractors 40-100 horsepower were down 4.8%, according to the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers.
Under-40 horsepower tractor sales in the U.S. experienced a small .7% growth, and 40-100 horsepower tractor sales grew 2.9%. In Canada, under-40 horsepower and 100-plus-horsepower 2-wheel-drive tractors were the only categories that experienced growth.
U.S. sales of under 40 horsepower tractors were up 2% compared with September of last year. Year-to-date U.S. sales of 40-100 horsepower tractors were up 1.5% year-to-date and down 7% compared with September of last year.
August year-to-date growth totals for total U.S. sales of 2-wheel-drive tractors topped 8%, under 40 horsepower tractors gained 10.5% and 40-100 horsepower tractors grew 2.5%.
Sales of commercial and consumer equipment, 2WD tractors less than 100 horsepower and hay tools showed sales increases in May compared with April. Sales of hay tools have increased year-to-date.
