Last weekend in the U.K., a Countax riding mower set a speed record of 87.33 mph, topping the record of 80.6 mph set by a Snapper mower in 2006 at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Snapper is owned by Briggs & Stratton Corp. of Wauwatosa.
Briggs & Stratton Corp. has agreed to settle more than 65 class-action lawsuits filed against the rural lifestyle company and other outdoor power equipment makers alleging misleading horsepower labeling on lawnmower engines.
Briggs & Stratton Corp., the world’s largest maker of rural lifestyle engines for outdoor power equipment, will reimburse salaried employees 75% of wages lost during a temporary pay cut.
