According to a report from the Milwaukee Business Journal, Briggs & Stratton is planning to make a $9.4 million investment in its 400,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Auburn, Ala. This will be Briggs & Stratton's first significant investment since being acquired by KPS Partners. The investment will go toward new equipment and adding 34 new employees. The equipment purchase will go toward the company’s production of V-Twin Vanguard engines, a company spokeswoman said.
“We are seeing continued growth in demand for these engines, so the facility enhancements will support additional future growth and our overall strategic commitment to invest in and grow our commercial business," said Lauren Vagnini, Briggs & Stratton's senior manager of corporate communication.
A separate report from the Milwaukee Business Journal reported that Briggs' & Stratton brand Ferris Mowers will sponsor the 2021 USA Today men’s college basketball coaches’ poll, with the poll to be renamed the Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.
According to the report, "USA Today Sports Media Group has partnered for over 25 years with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) to produce a weekly ranking of the top 25 NCAA Division I men’s basketball teams. As part of its sponsorship, Ferris Mowers will receive the naming rights of the Ferris Mowers NABC National Championship Trophy, which will be presented to the Division I men’s basketball team that finishes first in the final poll of the season in April."
