CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Husqvarna, a division of the world’s largest producer of outdoor power products and lawn care equipment, is introducing new products and services at the GIE+EXPO that showcase the company’s leadership in innovative technology with new robotics and satellite boundary solutions.
In 2020, Husqvarna is adding two all-wheel drive (AWD) models to its best-selling Automower robotic series, in addition to new technologies that increase the flexibility, productivity and safety within the commercial space.
“Delivering innovative, advanced solutions and products for green space professionals and consumers is the driving force behind everything we do at Husqvarna,“ said Earl Bennett, President of Husqvarna Brand Division North America. “As a pioneer in the robotic lawnmower space for the last 25 years, the enhancements we’ve driven are leading to new opportunities for professionals to revolutionize their own businesses. Using new technology to drive our robotics and green space management segments improve the customer experience, and we are extremely excited about the path forward.”
Automower the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Solution
Expanding on its world-leading robotic mower category within the commercial market in 2020, Automower is available in all-wheel drive (AWD). With superior terrain performance, Automower 535 AWD (MSRP: $4,299; installation sold separately) can handle slopes up to 35 degrees and maintain up to 0.9 acres of turf. Technology that optimizes the control of each individual wheel enables superior operation in the most demanding terrain – even in rainy conditions. Commercial construction provides durability and reliability.
The Automower 535 AWD also helps to maintain your team’s safety by keeping them off hazardous and tricky slopes, while mowing the more complex properties around the clock with ease. This not only creates a safer work environment for Green Space Professionals, but it allows them to work more efficiently by reducing the cost of lawn mowing and freeing them up to work on other tasks.
Equipped with Husqvarna’s cloud-based Fleet Services management system, Automower 535 AWD can be integrated into a full fleet solution that allows operators to monitor and control an unlimited number of robotic units at no extra fee. The newest Automower rewrites the rules for autonomous maintenance of green spaces, improving the safety of your workforce.
Continuing its leadership in the robotics market for the consumer space, Husqvarna also announced the launch of the Automower 435X all-wheel drive (AWD) model (MSRP: $4,299). Designed for residential use, the 435X AWD can handle slopes up to 35 degrees and maintain up to 0.9 acres. Created to give you more free time and reduce your time working on treacherous slopes, the ultra-silent drive, weather timer and remote object detection are just a few of the features packed into this sturdy 38-pound all-wheel drive robotic mower.
The Automower 435X AWD control each wheel to deliver superior operation in the most demanding terrain. The X-line feature package offers Automower Connect, GPS assisted navigation, LED headlights, a front rubber bumper and the X-line body design. Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) updates and a high resolution color display are also available on the Automower 435X AWD.
Delivering the Technology to Improve Productivity and Safety
Husqvarna announced the Husqvarna EPOS technology, a high-precision satellite navigation system that delivers an accuracy of up to 1 inch for a new series of professional Husqvarna Automower robotic mowers. It is used to create virtual boundaries. The new system will significantly increase the flexibility and use of professional robotic mowers in green spaces, as virtual boundaries can be adapted to meet the ever-changing needs of sports fields and public spaces. EPOS technology further opens up opportunities, which historically were challenging for robotic lawnmowers, such as areas passing over hard surfaces or those which are often remodeled. It also makes aerating and scarifying easier.
Husqvarna professional robotic mowers with Husqvarna EPOS integrate with Husqvarna Fleet Services, a digital fleet management control system, and make the management of large lawns and green spaces easier and more flexible and efficient than ever before.
The new technology is the next step in Husqvarna professional robotic lawnmowing and will launch with selected professional customers in the U.S., France, Germany and Sweden in 2020.
Husqvarna Autonomous Operation is a new way to maintain large green spaces while increasing productivity and safety. Husqvarna Autonomous Operation uses the new Husqvarna EPOS technology, which enables improvements in workplace safety as the remote, computerized control of the machines increases operational safety by minimizing the risk of human error. The system also offers object analysis, and collision avoidance based on information from several independent sensors, utilizing cameras, radars and ultrasonic technology. If necessary, an operator can override the system with a hands-on remote control.
In its first implementation Husqvarna Autonomous Operation is using Husqvarna’s new hybrid Rider lawnmowers. The Husqvarna Autonomous Operation system will be operating in further pilot applications during 2020 and be fully available as an end-to-end solution for selected markets by 2021.
Along with these new products, Husqvarna will display its industry-leading professional and homeowner products October 16-18, at GIE+EXPO, booths #9094 (inside) and #7800D (outside), at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.
