A starting point to increasing sales is increasing customer retention. “It can cost 5 times as much to attract a new customer than to keep an existing one. What is your company policy on retention, or what is your customer retention plan?” Dohrn asks.
Dohrn breaks down the components of successful selling including accountability, time management and upselling — but takes each concept a step forward, moving from the “why” to the “how.” He warns dealers against getting too complacent regarding good customer service. “Good customer service is expected,” he says. Be willing to try some new ideas and see what levels you can achieve regarding customer retention.
“A lot of us get caught up in our old ways and we want to make more money and we can't figure it out,” he says.
