CARY, N.C. — John Deere is releasing a new line-up of 100 Series lawn tractors. The new models provide side-by-side pedals and other operator convenience upgrades. Some of the new models offer the new and exclusive 30-second oil change system.
“With these new upgrades, the John Deere 100 Series lawn tractors are ideal machines for customers looking to purchase their first riding lawn mower,” said Kirk Eisenbeis, product marketing manager for John Deere. “Perfect for mowing residential yards and light hauling, the 100 Series tractors create an easy-to-use experience for operating and maintenance,” added Eisenbeis.
Side-by-Side Pedals
New side-by-side forward and reverse pedals provide easier operation and excellent control of speed and direction, which makes mowing easier and less tiring, especially when you back up a lot. These pedals are a premium feature that you won’t find on most lawn tractors in this price range.
Convenience Upgrades
Convenience is the focus with improved features such as a redesigned cut-height lever and a larger Reverse Implement Option (RIO) switch. The redesigned cut-height lever gives the operator ergonomic leverage and stays out of the way of dismounting operators. Lastly, the ReadyStart system allows operators to start the machine without needing to choke the engine, unless air temperatures are near or below freezing. ReadyStart is available on the following 100 Series models: E120, E130, E150, E160, E170 and E180.
Operator Comfort
Improved seat ergonomics keep the operators of all sizes in control and in a comfortable working position. The upgrades include improved pedal reach for shorter operators as well as improved steering wheel reach for taller operators. This means the operator will be more comfortable and will have a good view of the dash and controls.
New Oil Change System
The John Deere Easy Change 30-Second Oil Change System makes changing the engine oil easy, quick, and clean. This exclusive technology allows owners to quickly change their engine oil simply by twisting on a cartridge that contains both the oil and the filter — no engine oil drainage needed. Changing the filter removes the captured contaminants and replaces about 0.8 qt (0.76 L) of the engine oil.
This integrated system is exclusive to John Deere and reduces the skill and effort traditionally required for oil changes. There is no draining required, and it takes one quarter turn to remove the old cartridge and another quarter turn to install a new cartridge. This makes is easy for nearly anyone to change the oil in their lawn tractor, empowering more owners to take tractor maintenance into their own hands.
“Our main priority is to provide an easy and hassle-free experience for owners to maintain their lawn tractors,” said Kirk Eisenbeis, product marketing manager for John Deere. “The ability to change oil easily, quickly, and without a mess is really appealing to people who don’t have traditional oil change experience,” added Eisenbeis.
The John Deere Easy Change 30-Second Oil Change System is available on the following 100 Series models: E120, E130,E150, E160, E170 and E180.
The lineup gains an additional model with the E150, which includes both the ReadyStart and Easy Change Oil System features. The full lineup includes the E100, E110, E120, E130,E140, E150, E160, E170 and E180.
With the launch of the 2018 models, homeowners will notice an updated naming convention for the 100 Series: formally “D” models, the names now begin with “E” to signify the new changes in the line-up.
