Start the year clean. Plan to cut your old inventory in a big way this month —and by that I mean products that are celebrating “birthdays.” Run management reports that identify retail goods that are unsold for 12, 18, 24 months or longer.
Get serious about moving this inventory through discounting or even donating some old stock. The months of January and February generally have the lowest levels of old inventory as you should be receiving shipments of your new seasonal products in February.
It’s really important to get your dealership’s retail inventory stocked before spring. Those early, warm sunny days energize buyers.
