Fiskars Brands Inc. has informed state of Wisconsin officials that it is closing its facilities in Wausau, resulting in the loss of 51 jobs.

The Madison, Wis.-based consumer products company said it will begin closing its operations at 305 S. 84th Ave. in Wausau on Oct. 1, when 3 employees will be laid off, the company said in a mass layoff notice filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

The remaining 48 employees are expected to be cut between February and May of 2011, with the facilities slated to be shut down by May 31, 2011.
