ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. — Yanmar is introducing its new YT3 Series of compact tractors, now arriving at dealers in the U.S. and Canada.

“The YT3 Series tractors introduce a level of built-in strength, more advanced operator control and manufacturing quality not found in competitive compact tractors,” says Keith Wainwright, business unit manager, agricultural equipment at Yanmar America in Adairsville, Ga. “These tractors are designed and built to provide decades of reliable service to people who love their land. We’re confident the new YT3 tractors provide stronger, faster tractor technology to make quick work of tough projects.”

The first factory-installed cabs offered on Yanmar tractors in the U.S. and Canada are one of several characteristics that make the YT3 Series tractors significantly more advanced compared to previous Yanmar compact tractors. Like many of the major components and new features on the YT3 tractors, the cabs are Yanmar designed and fully integrated into the styling and technology of the new tractors. Both models, YT347 and YT359, are available with the new cabs. Heat and air conditioning are standard equipment in the cabs. Both tractor models are also available with open operator platforms with Rollover Protective Structures (ROPS).

The Model YT347 (46.6 engine HP) and the Model YT359 (59.7 engine HP) are the first tractors to offer a new, more advanced HMT transmission — the Yanmar designed and built i-HMT. The new Integrated Hydro Mechanical Transmission (i-HMT) provides the ease-of-use and infinite speed choice of traditional compact tractor hydrostatic transmissions but with mechanical efficiency, durability and heat-rejection performance that rivals what tractor owners experience with a gear transmission.

“YT tractor owners will benefit from the fuel-conserving efficiency of the i-HMT, and its durability has been demonstrated in years of HMT use before we brought it to the North American market,” Wainwright says. “But the real game-changing aspect of the i-HMT transmission is how it allows us to provide new ease-of-use and increased operator productivity features that set a new industry standard for compact tractors. The standard-equipment operator control features on i-HMT tractors provide simplicity and precise control that every member of the family can benefit from.”

The new YT3 Series tractors have a new, richer red paint color and a new exterior design created by Ken Okuyama, a world-renown industrial designer best known for his work with companies like Maserati and Ferrari.

“It’s a bold and aggressive appearance for a tractor and that is very deliberate to set these new-technology tractors apart from anything done before in the compact tractor industry,” says Okuyama, who is also a director of Yanmar Holdings. “A comfortable ride, intuitive controls and refined engineering shouldn’t be reserved for luxury sports cars and high-end pickup trucks. When you look at the YT3 Series tractors and the level of detail and quality of the products, it’s beyond what people expect. You just can’t find that in any other compact tractors.”

Yanmar diesel engines, like those used in the YT Series tractors, evolve from a more than 100-year history of compact diesel engine innovation. Hundreds of thousands of Yanmar diesels have been used in thousands of applications including electrical generation, tens of thousands of truck refrigeration units, and demanding ocean-going marine applications. Yanmar diesels comply with the most up-to-date requirements to protect the environment and the quality of the air we breathe without sacrificing the Yanmar reputation for fuel efficiency. In the YT3 Series tractors, the design allows for the use of vibration dampening engine mounts, which is beneficial for operators spending long days out in the field. Additionally, the YT3 tractors’ functions and operational status are all displayed on an LCD monitor allowing tractor operators instant access to crucial information.

Loaders

A high percentage of compact tractor owners select a front-end loader to match their tractors. To accommodate this and to provide the best tractor ownership experience, Yanmar designs its own loaders to make the most of customers’ tractor investments. The loaders fit both cab and open platform tractors and are controlled from the factory-installed, right-hand joystick that is standard equipment on all YT3 Series tractors. The Yanmar loaders for YT3 tractors use an industry-standard, skid-steer-style quick attachment system for loader buckets and attachments. Yanmar backhoes are also available for all YT3 tractors.
