If a crisis is, by its nature, unexpected, how can you prepare to lead your dealership through it? Keep in mind these seven lessons from an article in The Wall Street Journal, including my favorite: Never waste a good crisis.
In fact, a crisis may just what you need to bring about change: “When things are going well, people resist major changes or try to get by with minor adaptations. A crisis provides the leader with the platform to get things done that were required anyway and offers the sense of urgency to accelerate their implementation,” according to the article.
The lesson requiring having enough cash on hand to survive the most dire consequences may be difficult to accomplish, but something to consider now — especially since the rural lifestyle market is very strong.
