In the spirit of supporting Agri-Lifers and the company’s founding mission, Yanmar Agriculture Equipment is proud to announce that it recently donated a Lx4500 tractor to Plenty! of Floyd, Virginia. Plenty! was nominated to receive this generous donation by its local Yanmar dealer, T&E Small Engine.
Plenty! grows food on its 17 acre farm, and then distributes the fresh vegetables to local food banks, school programs and other worthy causes. Founded in 2008 by Karen Day and McCabe Coolidge, Plenty! started off as a “Portable Produce” program, a way of getting fresh vegetables to those who did not have transportation. Since then, the organization has continued to provide sustenance to their local community.
Yanmar chose to donate one of its tractors to this organization because of the service they provide to the local community. Keith Wainwright, Agriculture Equipment Business Unit Manager, offers, “We at Yanmar America work hard to follow our founder's spirit of ‘Grateful to serve for a better world’. Our focus is to bring it to a local level and support organizations that have the same goal in mind. We strive to provide sustainable solutions for needs which are essential to human life, and we focus on the challenges our customers face in food production and harnessing power, thereby enriching people’s lives for all our tomorrows.” The work that Plenty! does in Floyd, VA and the surrounding areas is a testament to its Passion for the Land, and Yanmar wants to be a part of supporting that spirit.
A ceremony during which a Yanmar representative will hand over the keys to the new tractor will take place on December 16, 2014 at Plenty! In conjunction with the ceremony, the organization will also host a luncheon for members of the community featuring food cooked with local ingredients.
