Exmark has redesigned one of its most popular wide-area walk-behind mowers, the Turf Tracer S-Series. The new 2015 model incorporates a number of improvements designed to deliver increased overall durability, serviceability and ease-of-use.
According to Exmark Product Manager, Lloyd von Scheliha, the updates to the Turf Tracer S-Series were based on feedback received by customers, as well as comprehensive evaluation in the Exmark test lab.
“The Turf Tracer S-Series is a workhorse mower in many of our customers’ fleets. They rely on its durability, maneuverability and versatility to be profitable, and it’s a machine many customers are very comfortable with. It was clear we had a very good product already, but we saw a number of opportunities to further raise the bar.
“With this feedback in-mind, we set out to give our customers what they wanted — increased durability and ease-of-use, with class-leading maneuverability, and ergonomics that help landscape maintenance professionals increase productivity every day.”
One feature that customers asked Exmark not to change was the company’s patented Enhanced Control System (ECS). ECS delivers reduced operator fatigue with improved ergonomics and precise, fingertip control.
Exmark incorporated an electric clutch on the 2015 Turf Tracer S-Series mower, which simplifies the deck drive system and increases its durability. The system not only eliminates dozens of parts, it increases the reliability of the system and provides easier access for service.
The new electric clutch allows Exmark engineers to simplify the overall design of the 2015 Turf Tracer S-Series model, eliminating nearly 250 component parts compared to its predecessors, with no sacrifice in performance. The simplified design reduces maintenance and increases reliability, with easier belt changes courtesy of a revised belt shield design. The company also rerouted hydraulic hoses on the model to maximize cooling and keep the mower cleaner overall.
A new structure for the engine deck and tank support was developed to lower the machine’s center of gravity. The new Turf Tracer S-Series utilizes new materials in a number of areas, including a more robust, durable discharge chute and more abrasion resistant metal in the front deck height adjusters. In addition, an hour meter is standard on all Turf Tracer S-Series models to help landscape maintenance professionals more accurately track maintenance intervals.
A choice of 36-, 48- or 52-inch UltraCut Series 3 cutting decks are available with the new Turf Tracer S-Series. This 5-inch deep, fully-welded deck design delivers Exmark’s signature cut quality, combined with the durability of the company’s sealed, greaseless spindles and heavy-duty 7-gauge steel deck reinforcements.
A number of engine options are available for the 2015 Turf Tracer S-Series mower, including the innovative Kohler PCV680 EFI-Propane powerplant, which gives landscape maintenance professionals the opportunity to save more than 40-percent on fuel expenditures, with reduced emissions that allow the model to be sold and operated in California. In addition, the Turf Tracer S-Series is available with a variety of Kawasaki engine options, two of which are CARB compliant.
