New Briggs & Stratton 16" and 20" kilowatt standby generators were introduced late last month at GIE+Expo.

“Homeowners wanted more flexible placement options and the ability to power all of their home’s essential appliances,” said Amanda Grandy, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton Home Power. “That’s exactly what we delivered with the new 16"  and 20" kW units.”

The 16" and 20" kW standby generators meet tough National Fire Protection Agency standards allowing homeowners to place generators potentially as close as 18 inches from the home. Closer placement options may help make standby generators a reality for homeowners with small lots.

The units also have a thermally-protected fuel system that automatically shut off the engine in the event of a fire. The all-steel enclosure and base can endure twice as much heat as aluminum and far beyond the heat plastic can withstand.

Versatility in power options gives homeowners more choices in what they power in their home from specific electrical circuits to a managed solution that powers most appliances in their home. The Essential Power-Plus series provides power for a select number of circuits in a home, including enough power for two, load-dependent, air conditioner units. With the Managed Whole House series, homeowners can electronically manage appliances and air conditioner units automatically powering their most essential appliances first with a Load Control Center.

The 16" and 20" kW generators are powered by commercial-grade Briggs & Stratton VanguardTM engines, which are design-engineered to dependably take on the most demanding jobs, helping ensure reliable backup power in the case of an outage.
