The Intimidator Group of Batesville, Ark., a Toro Company which designs and manufactures zero-turn Spartan Mowers, has laid off a number of employees.

Wiley Osborn Jr., the Human Resources Manager for Intimidator’s parent company, The Toro Company, told KAIT Region 8 News that they have been continuing to experience “slower than anticipated demand” for its turf equipment, citing that as the reason for the layoffs at the Batesville facility. He did not say how many employees were affected, according to local news reports.

“These actions enabled us to realign resources and better position the business for long-term success,” Osborn said. He added that affected employees were given severance packages and transitional support services.

In January 2022, the Intimidator Group was bought by the Toro Company for $400 million. The acquisition was made official in April 2022. Located near the White River in the foothills of the Arkansas Ozarks, Intimidator Group is home to five brands that cater to outdoor enthusiasts including Spartan Mowers, Intimidator UTV, eNVy Neighborhood Vehicles, Bad Dawg Accessories and Ground Hog Max ATV/UTV Disc Plow.
