According to the latest data from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), under 40 horsepower tractor sales were down month-over-month in May in both the U.S. and Canada.
U.S. compact tractor sales totaled 19,048 units in May, down 2.7% from 19,582 in May 2022. Year-to-date sales came in at 68,289, down 16% from 81,258 this time last year. Beginning inventory in May was 111,075 vs. 63,013 at the same point last year.
In Canada, under 40 horsepower tractor sales totaled 1,824, down 14.7% from 2,138 in May 2022. This brought year-to-date compact tractor sales to 6,103, down 22.4% year-over-year from 7,866. Beginning inventory was 13,100, up from 6,521 at the same point last year.
