Greenway Equipment Inc., Little Rock, Ark., partnered with country music star Jason Aldean to raise funds to combat food insecurity for children in the communities it serves, totaling $172,000 to be given to three area food banks. Greenway's Charleston, Mo., location raised the most money, earning it the title of 2022 Hunger Hero. The Northeast Arkansas Foodbank in Jonesboro hosted the drawing event March 11 featuring representatives from Greenway, Arkansas Foodbank in Little Rock, Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas in Jonesboro, and the Southeast Missouri Food Bank in Sikeston, Mo.
"This is the fourth year Greenway has had the pleasure of fundraising for these food bank programs, which provide food for a combined total of more than 4,600 children every weekend during the school year," said Bill Midkiff, president of Greenway, headquartered in Weiner, Arkansas. "We are dedicated to creating a positive impact on the communities we serve."
During a check presentation, Greenway gave away two John Deere Gator utility vehicles that were previously used by Aldean. Two winners were selected at random from people who registered online beginning in January for a chance to win either a John Deere XUV835M Cab Gator or a John Deere XUV825M S4 Gator, previously used by Aldean on his property near Nashville, Tennessee.
"The food banks in this region need the support of individuals and businesses like Greenway to continue to serve those in need," said Rhonda Sanders, CEO of Arkansas Foodbank. "Each dollar goes a long way to feed thousands of children through these Backpack Programs; we are grateful for this investment of time and resources."
Greenway Equipment is a John Deere dealer and reinvests in the 32 communities in which it has locations.
