Really Cub-Cadet ... gives the customer the ability to track maintenance. What ever happened to marking a calendar given to the customer by the dealer ... that's what we did. And those calendars were personalized beyond the dealer name, his or her address, an phone number. Plus a small one about 5" x 5" that was kept in the car, the commercial guys loved those, we annually gave out over 1,000 a year of those alone, around 2,000 a year of the larger wall hangers.

Our large calendars (had the Celebration Horse Farm Photos on those) began the info-message in March, on March 1st these was a suggestion to call us for pickup an delivery for service ... 8 out of ten times the van an trailer came back loaded with everything they'd bought ... this kept the 2 cycle guy busy as well. On the 10th of March the suggestion was made that if you were a DIY'er it was time to check your OPE an make up a list of parts, come by have a cup of coffee, look over "what's new" and pick up your order. On the 20th, reminders for both. For the other months there were suggestions about clipping hedges, sharpening blades, etc. And it didn't add but about $25.00 to have the extra "suggestions" added to the calendar.

Communications ... in addition to the calendar, both the residential an commercial customers got a bi-monthly news letter we did in-house called clippings. Clippings let the customer know what was knew, reinforced the calendar suggestions, an let them know they weren't forgotten after the sale. One of the best Clippings suggestions was to make the customer aware that while their machine was still under warranty and something was "amiss" outside of general maintenance the repair can get handled under warranty.

In closing ... yeah the above is old school, but is dern sure worked, Clippings also included "coupons" for things from our vendors like discounts or a free trimmer line refill, and especially the "powder puff Saturday maintenance" for the lady customers where we thought them how to restring a weed eater head, among other things. For the commercial customer we made our facility available so the mandatory state schools for "spraying" for starters giving them a local place rather than having to ride 50 to 60 miles away. Cub-Cadet ... your app won't do any of the above.
