The Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI) announces that GIE+EXPO will rebrand and relaunch in 2022 as Equip Exposition, evolving the industry’s largest tradeshow and starting a new chapter for the event while reinvesting in its host city.
The market added 5 million units this year, and manufacturers expect positive 2021, reports the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute in its December forecast.
OPEI has partnered with its Washington, D.C.-based legislative counsel Kelley Drye Warren to provide members with guidance on the Coronavirus, Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (The CARES Act), which was signed into law last weekend.
“In addition to what’s occurring with the economy and technological shifts, the industry is facing a number of pressing issues with the emissions changes in California, impact of tariffs on trade, and ongoing threats to the managed landscape,” says Kris Kiser, President and CEO of OPEI.
Earlier this year, OPEI issued the results of a study that showed Americans are confused when it comes to fueling choices. OPEI's research found that only 1 in 5 Americans say they notice ethanol content at a fuel pump.

The Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, along with allied OEM and dealer interests, are in uniform opposition to these measures as they compromise OEM protections of intellectual property and copyrighted information, as well as expose consumers to adverse impacts.
As part of ongoing partial government shutdown and required staff furloughs, the Environmental Protection Agency has suspended the processing of engine certifications.
Kris Kiser, president and CEO of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, comments on the proposed year-round availability of E15 fuel as well as changes coming from the California Air Resources Board regarding emissions.
