A trip to buy farm equipment parts has led to a free Massey Ferguson zero-turn mower for the Richard Crommett family of Clinton, Maine.
Crommett, wife Cherry and nephew Dana are the winners of the Massey Ferguson "Crank it Up" Sweepstakes and recipients of a brand-new ZT29 zero-turn commercial mower.
"It's been really hard to believe we won. After getting the news, I tried to keep busier than usual to keep from thinking about the mower and our good fortune," says Richard. "We almost didn't fill out the entry form, but I'm glad we did. If this machine is as reliable as our Massey Ferguson tractor, it will be a really good piece of equipment that we'll use a lot."
The Crommetts operate a hay-harvesting and marketing business, work throughout the community for area farmers, and raise livestock that they market through local butchers. Their pigs are in high demand as spickett hogs for barbecues and other gatherings. The family recently took delivery of their new mower, but this isn't their first experience with Massey Ferguson equipment. A 30-HP MF1045 four-wheel drive tractor has been the primary tractor used for loader work and for mowing and baling hay, logging more than 5,700 hours with minimal repairs during its more than 20 years on the job.
"We take good care of our machinery, keeping the oil changed and doing service and minor repairs when they're needed," says Richard. Mowing the lawn and lane on their five acre property will become a faster, easier job with the new ZT29 horsepower Massey Ferguson mower. The mower has a 29-horsepower fuel-efficient diesel engine and a 60-inch deck.
Crommett entered the sweepstakes at Northwood Power Equipment's Hermon, Maine, location, where he'd gone to purchase wheel bearings to maintain his tractor. The Northwood Power dealership offers a full line of Massey Ferguson tractors, hay equipment and accessories at locations in Hermon, Maine; Northwood, Claremont and Newport, N.H.; and its newest store in Whately, Mass.
The Crommetts were selected as winners of the 2011 "Crank it Up" Sweepstakes through a random drawing. The contest sponsored by Massey Ferguson was open from March 1, 2011, through July 31, 2011.
